Bansuri Swaraj Blames AAP and CM Kejriwal Govt for Delhi Water Crisis.

Amid the ongoing water crisis in Delhi, BJP MP Bansuri Swaraj has targeted the Kejriwal government, accusing it of deliberately causing the crisis to encourage corruption and benefit the illegal tanker mafia. She claimed that the crisis is not natural but orchestrated by the AAP government.

Speaking to ANI, Swaraj stated, "It almost seems that this crisis, which is not a natural crisis, has been orchestrated by the Kejriwal government to encourage their own corruption as well as to encourage the illegal tanker mafia." She further criticised the Delhi government for failing to take adequate steps to address the crisis, labelling their actions as mere theatrics.

Swaraj highlighted the dire state of Delhi, with the entire city facing severe water shortages. She specifically pointed out Delhi minister Atishi, accusing her of engaging in theatrics and threatening Delhiites with a fast instead of working on-ground solutions. According to Swaraj, the proposed fast is an attempt to cover up the government's incompetence and inaction.

Swaraj also mentioned that the Supreme Court of India had criticized the Kejriwal government for not taking measures to curb the illegal tanker mafia and failing to prevent water wastage.

She accused the government of neglecting the Delhi Jal Board (DJB) infrastructure, which she described as being in a deteriorated state. Despite being in power for ten years, Swaraj claimed that the Kejriwal government had not invested in improving or repairing DJB infrastructure.

Continuing her criticism, Swaraj questioned the whereabouts of AAP's MLAs, stating that over 60 MLAs were not working on the ground. She expressed shock that the elected government was acting more like an opposition party, indulging in rhetoric rather than addressing the situation. She emphasised that the responsibility of managing the crisis had fallen on the BJP workers.

Asserting the BJP's role, Swaraj said, "We are the responsible opposition party, we are on the ground, we are working throughout and ensuring that the water tankers are reaching the public but what is the AAP doing?" She raised concerns about the Delhi government's planning and preparation for the crisis, especially given the heatwave predictions by the India Meteorological Department (IMD).

In the midst of this political clash, Delhi minister Atishi announced that if Delhi does not receive its "rightful" share of water by June 21, she will be forced to undertake a Satyagraha. Atishi claimed that 28 lakh people in Delhi are not getting sufficient water and accused Haryana of not providing the full share of water to Delhi.

Atishi stated, "Today, I have written a letter to the Prime Minister saying that 28 lakh people in Delhi are not getting water. I have requested that he should help provide water as soon as possible… If the people of Delhi do not get their rightful share of water by the 21st, then I will be forced to do a Satyagraha." She further alleged that the shortage of water from Haryana has led to significant water scarcity in Delhi, affecting millions of residents.

The political tug-of-war between the BJP and AAP continues, with both sides blaming each other for the worsening water crisis in Delhi. As the situation unfolds, Delhiites remain in dire need of a sustainable solution to their water woes.
