Congress-backed independent MP Pappu Yadav has urged RJD chief Lalu Prasad Yadav to uphold alliance discipline and withdraw party candidates from seats already allotted to allies, stressing that internal clashes within the INDIA bloc would only damage the coalition’s unity.
“The alliance dharma must be followed at any cost,” Yadav said, appealing to Lalu Prasad to take the lead in maintaining harmony within the opposition alliance.
He added, “Rahul Gandhi has also appealed to all parties to work in the interest of the INDIA alliance. We have not fielded any candidate where the RJD has one. Therefore, RJD should also withdraw its candidates from the seats where we have ours. The people are ahead of us. They will vote for the INDIA alliance and Rahul Gandhi. In such a situation, internal clashes will only cause harm.”

Addressing Lalu Prasad directly, Pappu Yadav said, “Lalu ji is our leader. He himself should look into the matter and withdraw candidates from the seats where they have been fielded.”
Pappu Yadav’s remarks come amid growing tensions within Bihar’s Mahagathbandhan over unresolved seat-sharing disputes. Several constituencies are witnessing contests between candidates from allied parties, exposing widening cracks in the coalition ahead of the upcoming Assembly elections.
Senior leaders, including Rahul Gandhi, Mallikarjun Kharge and Lalu Prasad Yadav, have reportedly stepped in, urging alliance partners to settle differences and present a united front.
Meanwhile, responding sharply to Union Minister Giriraj Singh’s controversial remark that “Muslims are traitors (namak haram),” Pappu Yadav said, “Everyone knows who the real traitors are. During British rule, those who sided with the British were the real namak haram.”
