Union Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad returned to India on Sunday after completing a significant multi-nation diplomatic visit across Europe.

The all-party parliamentary delegation led by BJP MP and former Union Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad returned to India on Sunday after completing a significant multi-nation diplomatic visit across Europe. The group arrived at the Delhi airport after engaging with key stakeholders in several countries, including France, Italy, Denmark, England, Belgium, and Germany. The tour was primarily aimed at reinforcing India’s diplomatic, strategic, and people-to-people ties with European nations, while also addressing growing international concerns regarding terrorism, particularly in the wake of the recent Pahalgam terror attack in Jammu and Kashmir.

Speaking to the media upon arrival, Prasad shared insights into the delegation’s mission and its outcomes. “It feels great to be back in India. Our delegation visited France, Italy, Denmark, England, Brussels, and Germany. We met senior leaders of the Parliament, think tanks, and the Indian community. The foreign nations have expressed serious anger over the terrorist attack in Pahalgam, and all of them condemned it. We also went to the European Parliament. The Indian community was thrilled to meet us. A new relationship is being forged between India and Europe. It was a very satisfying visit,” he said.

The visit by the Group-2 all-party delegation came at a time when the global community has strongly condemned the terrorist incident in Pahalgam, which targeted civilians and was seen as an attempt to disrupt peace and tourism in Jammu and Kashmir. Throughout their engagements, the delegation consistently emphasised India’s firm policy of "Zero Tolerance Against Terrorism" and pressed for coordinated international action to combat cross-border terrorism.

In Germany, a key stop in their itinerary, the delegation held critical meetings with senior representatives from the German government, parliament (Bundestag), and prominent think tanks. As per a statement released by the Indian Embassy in Germany, the delegation conveyed India’s resolute stance against terrorism and explained its strategic response to the Pahalgam attack under "Operation Sindoor"—described as a precise, firm, and non-escalatory countermeasure.

During their engagements in Berlin, the delegation met Johann Wadephul, the Foreign Minister of the Federal Republic of Germany. Wadephul, who had recently interacted with India’s External Affairs Minister Dr. S. Jaishankar, reiterated Germany’s unflinching support for India’s stand against terrorism and affirmed the sovereign right of every nation to defend itself against such threats.

The Indian side deeply appreciated Germany’s strong condemnation of the Pahalgam attack and its solidarity with the victims. Delegates underscored the importance of holding perpetrators accountable and called for enhanced multilateral cooperation to confront terrorism globally.

In their meeting with Omid Nouripour, Vice President of the Bundestag, the Indian delegation elaborated on three foundational principles of India’s counter-terrorism policy: zero tolerance for terrorism, rejection of nuclear blackmail, and commitment to resolving issues with Pakistan bilaterally. They stressed that terrorism remains a global menace requiring unified international action.

Additional meetings in Germany included interactions with Armin Laschet, Chairman of the Bundestag’s Foreign Affairs Committee; Ralph Brinkhaus, Member of Parliament (MdB); and Hubertus Heil, also an MdB. The delegation conveyed appreciation for Germany’s swift condolences to the victims of the Pahalgam tragedy and noted the broader implications of the attack, including attempts to destabilize the growing tourism industry in Jammu & Kashmir and sow communal discord in India.

The Indian representatives reaffirmed that Operation Sindoor received widespread support across political and societal spectrums in India and represented a united national front against terrorism.

The delegation also held discussions with senior Bundestag members involved in foreign policy and international relations, and engaged with representatives of the Konrad Adenauer Stiftung (KAS), a leading German think tank. Their day concluded with a reception hosted by Indian Ambassador to Germany Ajit Gupte, which brought together intellectuals, scholars, and members of the Indian diaspora.

During all interactions, the delegation consistently emphasised India’s strategic restraint and responsible approach in dealing with cross-border terrorism. They asserted that terrorism must not be shielded by nuclear threats and urged the global community to reject such tactics unequivocally.

In addition to counter-terrorism dialogue, both India and Germany reaffirmed their commitment to expanding cooperation in the areas of defence, security, and intelligence sharing, strengthening the existing strategic partnership between the two nations. The visit concluded with a renewed sense of diplomatic momentum and a shared resolve between India and its European partners to address terrorism through coordinated and firm global action.
