With more than 39 lakh students appearing for exams across India and abroad, CBSE stressed on the need to reach exam centres by 10:00 am.
This advisory comes amidst concerns over possible traffic disruptions caused by ongoing farmers' protests in Delhi.
In the capital alone, 5,80,192 students from 877 examination centres are slated to take the board exams. The exams started at 10:30 am today.
"Because of the current situation in Delhi, it is expected that there will be traffic issues which might cause a delay in reaching the examination centre. Hence, all the students are advised to leave their homes early so that they can reach well on time as per instructions issued by the CBSE," the board stated.
The board suggests using metro services, which are reportedly running smoothly, as a reliable mode of transportation.
The advisory notes the expected traffic problems in Delhi due to ongoing protests.
Meanwhile, the second day of the farmers' protest saw disruptions in traffic across Delhi's border areas, with security forces setting up blockades to prevent farmers from entering the city.
Vehicles on Grand Trunk Road, connecting Delhi to Punjab via Haryana, were diverted through side roads for the last 20 km.
Border points like Ghazipur, Singhu, and Tikri have multiple layers of barricades, concrete blocks, iron nails, and container walls to deter the farmers' march.
The CBSE specifically recommends using metro services, which are functioning smoothly.
Residents near Delhi's Tikri and Singhu borders have expressed concerns about the blockades and traffic situation, particularly regarding how children will reach their exam centres.
Adding to the worries, the Samyukta Kisan Morcha (SKM) has called for a 'Bharat Bandh' on Friday in support of the 'Delhi Chalo' agitation.
"Because of the current situation in Delhi, it is expected that there will be traffic issues which might cause a delay in reaching the examination centre. Hence, all the students are advised to leave their homes early so that they can reach well on time as per instructions issued by the CBSE," the board stated.
The CBSE strictly states that only students arriving before 10 am will be allowed to enter the exam centre, emphasising the importance of punctuality.
