The Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) has said that protests at Jantar Mantar would continue even after its spokespersons met Union minister and former BJP president JP Nadda on Monday.
Thousands gathered in support of the Cockroach Janta Party (CJP)-led march to Parliament on Monday, defying a Delhi Police crackdown that saw police resorting to mild force to disperse the protesters.
However, despite the police action, the students and youth who were part of the protests continued to regroup throughout the day.
Both sides received injuries in the clashes, resulting in 100 people being detained as police personnel struggled to maintain public order in central Delhi.
The protests, which began a month ago, saw the government showing interest in talks with CJP leaders for the first time. CJP is demanding the resignation of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan over the NEET-UG 2026 paper leak; Pradhan is considered one of the important leaders in the Bharatiya Janata Party.
On Monday, Union Minister JP Nadda met CJP's Saurav Das and Ashutosh Ranka, who presented their demands, including Pradhan's ouster.
The government, although it asked protesters to end their sit-in, said it was considering the CJP memorandum. However, climate activist and multiple award winner Sonam Wangchuk announced that he would continue his fast until youth leaders were allowed to meet MPs in Parliament or MPs were allowed to meet him at the hospital.
Wangchuk's health has deteriorated, but the activist has refused to break the fast and wishes to continue until the government announces course-correction and loophole-fixing measures in the education system.
However, CJP founder Abhijeet Dipke ended his fast on Monday.
