According to the revised timetable issued by the testing body, candidates for the afternoon session were asked to report from 2:30 pm onwards, with the examination rescheduled to kick off at 4:00 pm rather than its original 3:00 pm slot.

The Common University Entrance Test (CUET-UG 2026) faced disruption on May 30 after a technical glitch delayed the start of examinations at several centres across the country on May 30. The issue mainly affected the second shift, leaving students waiting beyond their scheduled reporting time.

As mentioned in an official notice posted on social media site X by the NTA, the cause of this delay was identified to be an error on the side of its service provider, TCS. Although it has been made clear that the problem occurred solely because of the service provider, the NTA reassured candidates that this issue had already been sorted out. It is also stated that the examinations will continue, and additional time will be given to compensate for this lost time.

According to the revised timetable issued by the testing body, candidates for the afternoon session were asked to report from 2:30 pm onwards, with the examination rescheduled to kick off at 4:00 pm rather than its original 3:00 pm slot. For those caught up in morning shift delays, the agency promised that the full exam duration would be guaranteed, and students would only be permitted to leave the halls once they had completed the test. Officials emphasised that the decision to grant extra time was taken to maintain fairness and secure equal opportunity for every aspirant.

Regretting the inconvenience caused to students as well as their guardians, NTA conveyed that steps were being taken to ensure that such problems do not occur again during future sessions. In connection with the announcement, NTA released its helpline number (+91-11-40759000) as well as the email ID through which candidates could contact them for any help.

This latest problem adds to the growing fears associated with the conduct of computerised examination procedures within the country, where the reliability of the technological systems is an essential requirement for the seamless running of entrance examinations for lakhs of aspirants.
