The Delhi High Court and several other sensitive locations in the national capital received bomb threats on Friday, triggering security checks and heightened vigilance a day before Independence Day.
The threat to the Delhi High Court was received through email, with the subject line claiming a “30 MB Blast at the Delhi High Court”. The message warned that a blast would take place at 2.11 pm.
Delhi High Court Bar Association Joint Secretary Kunal Malhotra said the threat appeared to be fake, while adding that all necessary precautions had been taken and security measures put in place.
The Delhi Fire Service said bomb threat calls were also received for five other locations — Jamnagar House, Jhandewalan Flatted Factory Complex, MB Saket Office/DM Office, Terminal 3 of Indira Gandhi International Airport and the SDM Office in Delhi Cantt.
Fire tenders were dispatched to the locations as security agencies began checks. Authorities were yet to confirm whether any suspicious object had been found at the sites.
The threats came as security has been intensified across Delhi ahead of Independence Day celebrations on August 15. Police personnel have been deployed at strategic locations, while additional checks are being carried out at entry and exit points across the city.

Security teams are also keeping a close watch on public places and areas expected to see increased movement ahead of the celebrations. Prime Minister Narendra Modi is scheduled to address the nation from the Red Fort on Saturday.
The latest threats come amid a series of similar incidents targeting establishments in Delhi and neighbouring areas in recent weeks.
On August 3, the Delhi Mayor’s Office received an anonymous bomb threat for the eighth time, according to the Municipal Corporation of Delhi. The email, received at 9.07 am, also warned of a blast at 2.11 pm. The office alerted Delhi Police and other security agencies, following which precautionary measures were put in place.
Multiple schools across Delhi also received bomb threats on August 3, prompting searches by security teams. Authorities said no suspicious objects were found during the checks.
Earlier, on July 31, bomb threat emails were sent to the Gurugram Deputy Commissioner’s office, Haryana courts and several schools. The threats were later found to be hoaxes, with police deploying bomb disposal and dog squads to conduct searches.
With Independence Day celebrations due to take place on Saturday, security agencies have stepped up surveillance and checking across the national capital to prevent any untoward incident.
