AAP Delhi Minister Atishi Requests Haryana to Release Water Into Yamuna River.

Delhi Water Minister Atishi has urged the Haryana government to release water into the Yamuna river. On Monday, Atishi visited the Wazirabad barrage and made an appeal for water to be sent to Delhi.

Atishi explained that the Wazirabad barrage receives its water supply from Haryana, which is then directed to the water treatment plants in Chandrawal, Okhla, and Wazirabad. She highlighted the critical role of this water in ensuring the functionality of these treatment plants.

Expressing concern for the residents of Delhi, Atishi stated, "If no water is received, how will the water treatment plants work? We appeal to Haryana that the people in Delhi are worried and they should release water into the Yamuna river." She emphasised the importance of this water supply for meeting the needs of the city's population.

The appeal comes amidst a growing water crisis in Delhi, where the demand for clean water continues to rise. The shortage of water from Haryana has exacerbated the situation, affecting the daily lives of many residents. Atishi's visit to the Wazirabad barrage underscores the urgency of the matter and the need for immediate action from the Haryana government.

Water treatment plants in Chandrawal, Okhla, and Wazirabad are essential for providing clean water to Delhi's inhabitants. Without a sufficient supply from Haryana, these plants face operational challenges, potentially leading to water shortages in various parts of the city. This has raised significant concerns among the populace and prompted calls for prompt resolution.

Atishi's appeal is not just a request but a plea to ensure that Delhi's water needs are met. The cooperation between Delhi and Haryana is crucial for addressing the water scarcity issue and ensuring that residents have access to clean and safe water.

The release of water from Haryana into the Yamuna river is seen as a vital step towards stabilising the situation and maintaining the functionality of the water treatment infrastructure.

The ongoing water shortage highlights the interconnectedness of regional water management and the need for collaborative efforts between states. Atishi's appeal aims to foster such cooperation, ensuring that the basic needs of Delhi's citizens are met without disruption. The hope is that the Haryana government will respond positively to this appeal and take swift action to release the necessary water into the Yamuna river.
