DRDO highlights futuristic warfare tech at Kartavya Path.

The Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) proudly showcased its cutting-edge innovations during the 76th Republic Day parade at Kartavya Path. These advancements, critical for bolstering national security, demonstrated India's growing self-reliance in defence technology.

A key highlight was the display of Raksha Kavach, led by Scientist ‘E’ Sachin Kumar from DEAL, Dehradun. This futuristic warfare technology is designed to address emerging threats across air, ground, and water.

The system showcased its capability to detect and neutralise underwater submarines using the Sea King helicopter, equipped with advanced detection systems and torpedoes.

Another notable feature was the multi-layered Air Defence System, aimed at safeguarding air and ground space against threats such as missiles, rockets, drones, and ground assaults.

The system relies on sophisticated surveillance enabled by EW satellites, AEW&CS, and the Rustom-II UAV. Its dual defence strategy involves microwave jammers for neutralising drones and an arsenal including QRSAM, ATAGS, VSHORADS, and high-power lasers for physical destruction.

The Pralay Weapon System, developed indigenously by RCI, DRDO, also took centre stage. With state-of-the-art avionics and guidance systems, Pralay is a tactical surface-to-surface missile with a range exceeding 400 kilometres.

Capable of striking targets with pinpoint accuracy, the weapon system is designed to neutralise enemy capabilities before the start of contact battles.

Led by Project Director Dr R. Srinivasan and Deputy Project Director D. Ravikumar, the system demonstrates unmatched flexibility and lethality with its diverse warhead options.

Adding to the spectacle, the Indian Coast Guard's tableau, themed ‘Swarnim Bharat: Heritage and Progress,’ highlighted India's maritime security capabilities. Led by Commandants (JG) Soniya Singh and Sadhana Singh, the tableau focused on coastal security and rescue operations.

It showcased an indigenously built interceptor boat, drones, and an Advanced Light Helicopter (ALH) responding to a simulated distress call from a stranded fisherman.

The Coast Guard tableau also highlighted life-saving missions using drones to drop life buoys and coordinated operations for rescuing those in danger. At its rear, the tableau depicted a Maritime Search and Rescue Coordination Centre, supported by a network of 84 radar stations.

Real-time distress signals are relayed to patrolling ships and aircraft, ensuring rapid response during emergencies. All the technology and equipment displayed were indigenously developed, underlining India’s commitment to self-reliance in defence.
