A headmaster at a government-run primary school in Chhattisgarh’s Balrampur district has been suspended after a video emerged showing him allegedly under the influence of alcohol while dancing with female pupils inside a classroom.

The incident took place at Pasupati Pur Primary School in the Wadrafnagar area and has drawn widespread criticism following the circulation of the video on social media.
The video, believed to have been filmed by a staff member, shows headmaster Laxmi Narayan Singh dancing with schoolgirls during class hours.

Sources in the district education officer’s (DEO) office said the video came to light after it was shared online, prompting DEO D.N.
Mishra to order an inquiry. The local block education officer (BEO), Manish Kumar, was tasked with investigating the matter.

Following the BEO’s report, Singh was suspended and attached to the DEO’s office pending further disciplinary proceedings.

Students from the school have since submitted complaints to the authorities, alleging that the headmaster frequently arrived at school in an intoxicated state and regularly mistreated pupils while under the influence of alcohol.

The case reignites concerns about school management and student safety in rural Chhattisgarh, as well as the Nation, where incidents like this have previously if been reported.

Local authorities have assured that swift action will be taken in all such cases to uphold discipline and protect children in educational settings.
