Disha Salian case: Political storm over fresh complaint.

The controversy surrounding the tragic death of Disha Salian has taken a new turn as a complaint has been filed with the Mumbai Police, naming several high-profile individuals, including Shiv Sena (UBT) MLA Aaditya Thackeray.

The complaint, submitted by the lawyer of Disha Salian's father, also names actors Dino Morea and Suraj Pancholi, along with his bodyguard, former Mumbai Police Commissioner Parambir Singh, dismissed police officer Sachin Vaze, and actress Rhea Chakraborty.

Disha Salian, a celebrity manager and former manager of the late actor Sushant Singh Rajput, died on June 8, 2020, after falling from a high-rise building in Mumbai.

Her death was initially registered as an Accidental Death Report (ADR) by the police. However, suspicions and controversies have continued to swirl around the case, with many questioning the circumstances of her death.

Disha Salian's father has been pursuing justice for his daughter, and the recent complaint represents a significant escalation in his efforts. The lawyer, Nilesh Ojha, confirmed that the complaint has been submitted to both the Commissioner of Police and the Joint Commissioner of Police (Crime).

Ojha argued that when a police officer is among the accused, a formal written complaint to the Commissioner's office is necessary, and this written complaint itself serves as an FIR.

The complaint alleges that Parambir Singh, the former top cop, orchestrated a cover-up in the case to protect Aaditya Thackeray. According to Ojha, Singh fabricated lies during a press conference to shield Thackeray from scrutiny.

The lawyer further claimed that investigation papers from the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) suggest Thackeray's involvement in drug-related activities, a detail reportedly included in the FIR.

Ojha also claimed that eyewitnesses had seen Aaditya Thackeray, actors Dino Morea and Suraj Pancholi, and their bodyguards allegedly gang-raping the celebrity manager.

These allegations have added a highly charged element to the ongoing investigation and have intensified the political dispute between the ruling Mahayuti alliance and the opposition Shiv Sena (UBT).

Aaditya Thackeray, reacting to the accusations, has firmly denied any wrongdoing. The Worli MLA described the allegations as baseless and politically motivated, accusing the BJP of attempting to tarnish his reputation.

Thackeray stated that the accusations have been levelled against him for the past five years and expressed his readiness to address the matter in court.

The case has been under the investigation of a Special Investigation Team (SIT) formed in 2023.

Despite the ongoing legal and investigative processes, Disha Salian's family remains determined to seek justice. Her father has also approached the Bombay High Court, seeking a more comprehensive probe into her death.

The latest developments in the Disha Salian case have reignited public and media interest, with political parties using the issue to attack each other.

The BJP has expressed support for a thorough investigation, while the Shiv Sena (UBT) has criticised the manner in which the allegations are being handled.
