The government has debunked several social media posts claiming that UPSC Civil Services (Preliminary) Examination, 2026, question paper was leaked. The Fact Check Unit of the Press Information Bureau (PIB) said the claim was fake.

The Unit added that UPSC examination question papers are developed by experts in the relevant subjects selected from across the country. PIB has also urged people to verify such information from official sources only and asked them to refrain from sharing such misleading and unverified claims.

Pertinently, a fresh controversy  emerged over the UPSC Civil Services Preliminary Examination 2026, with the National Students' Union of India (NSUI), the student wing of the Congress party, raising concerns over alleged irregularities and a possible paper leak. The National Students’ Union of India (NSUI) has alleged a paper leak in the UPSC Prelims 2026 examination, claiming that 82 questions matched coaching institute material. The student body has called for a thorough and impartial investigation into the alleged irregularities.

Jakhar has alleged that 82 of the 100 questions asked in the UPSC Prelims 2026 closely matched study material prepared by coaching institute Anantam IAS. Jakhar further claimed that the notes in question were modified after the examination and that the dates associated with the material were allegedly altered. He said these developments have raised suspicions about possible collusion between coaching institutes and the examination process.

The student body in a statement called for an immediate clarification from the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) and demanded an impartial investigation into the matter. Calling the matter serious, the NSUI has decided to write to the UPSC seeking a detailed explanation. The organisation has urged the Commission to conduct a transparent and fair inquiry into the allegations and issue a clarification to address concerns among aspirants.

However, the Coaching Institute has denied any wrongdoing contending, “the paper was not leaked to us. And we did not have prior access to the questions”. Calling the claims ‘false and serious’ the Coaching Centre added that such allegations imply a criminal act as these are completely ‘baseless’.
