The Government has debunked a letter circulating on social media as completely fake, which claimed that a letter issued by Defence Secretary Rajesh Kumar Singh is proposing preparation for Operation Sindoor 2.0.
The Fact Check Unit of the Press Information Bureau (PIB) informed that the letter is fake. The PIB further added that neither the Defence Secretary nor the Defence Ministry has issued any such letter. PIB also urged the citizens to beware of fake news circulating online and always depend on reliable official sources for verified information.
As per the details, the Press Information Bureau on Wednesday, June 17, issued a fact-check against the circulation of a “fake” letter attributed to Defence Secretary Rajesh Kumar Singh that proposes preparation for “Operation Sindoor 2.0” The details are completely fake and neither the contents are true nor is the letter head on which it is being uploaded as original, the fact check said.
While sharing an image of the fake letter on X, the PIB Fact Check unit wrote, “Do not fall for fake news! A letter claiming to be issued by Defence Secretary Rajesh Kumar Singh is circulating online proposing preparation for Operation Sindoor 2.0… This letter is #Fake.”
It further clarified that neither the Defence Secretary nor the Defence Ministry has issued any such letter.“Beware of fake news circulating online and always depend on reliable official sources for verified information,” it added.The fake letter, dated June 8, claimed that the Ministry of Defence has directed the Chief of Defence Staff to “present updated proposals on operational planning and force employment” in a scheduled NSC meeting.
It added that these proposals will be reviewed for alignment with national objectives and submitted for the Defence Minister’s consideration and approval.The fake letter mentioned that the present situation in Pakistan-occupied Kashmir “reflects a favorable environment for advancing India’s long-term strategic objectives”.However, the government has clarified that no such letter was issued by the Ministry of Defence or the Defence Secretary.
