Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel on Sunday said that the State Government will soon announce a relief and assistance package for farmers affected by the unseasonal rains that have damaged standing crops across several districts.
According to a release from the Chief Minister’s Office (CMO), the recent unseasonal rains have caused extensive losses to farmers, destroying crops that were close to harvest. The government has described the situation as a serious natural setback for the farming community.
During this unexpected calamity, the State Government has assured farmers of full sensitivity and support.
In a post on social media platform X, Chief Minister Patel said, “Ministers of the state have personally visited various affected areas to understand the condition of the farmers. The administration has very swiftly initiated the process of reviewing and surveying the crop damage. I am in constant coordination with ministers and officials in this regard.”
The Chief Minister further stated that the government, keeping the welfare of farmers as its top priority, will soon declare a relief and assistance package to help them recover from the losses.
He added that the state’s ministers and officials are working in close coordination to ensure that relief measures are rolled out promptly.
Earlier on Saturday, CM Patel expressed deep concern over the damage caused to crops by the recent spell of unseasonal rains and changing weather conditions across the state. He directed the administration to extend full support to the farmers during this difficult period.
This year’s unexpected rainfall, which occurred under rare climatic circumstances, has been described as one of the most unusual weather events the state has seen in over two decades. Large areas of farmland have been affected, with many farmers reporting the destruction of key crops.

In response, the state government has reaffirmed its strong commitment to a farmer-centric approach. CM Patel has instructed the administration to carry out an immediate assessment of crop losses and provide “the most compassionate and comprehensive assistance” possible to affected farmers.
Taking note of the unusual weather and the widespread impact of the rainfall, CM Patel has directed that safeguarding the interests of the farming community remain the government’s utmost priority.
The relief package, once finalised, is expected to include both financial assistance and logistical support aimed at helping farmers recover quickly from the damages caused by the rains.
Officials said that detailed reports from district administrations are being compiled to determine the extent of losses, following which the relief announcement will be made in coordination with the concerned departments.
The government’s move is part of its broader effort to ensure stability and continued agricultural productivity in the state amid unpredictable weather patterns.
