On the 10th International Yoga Day, Indian Army personnel performed yoga in the icy heights of the northern frontier on Friday.
Troops also conducted yoga sessions in Eastern Ladakh.
Personnel from the Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP) participated in yoga at the Muguthang Sub Sector in Sikkim, at an altitude of over 15,000 feet.
The ITBP has been promoting yoga in various high-altitude Himalayan regions along the India-China border, including Sikkim, Arunachal Pradesh, Ladakh, Himachal Pradesh, and Uttarakhand, by performing yoga asanas.
"From Ladakh in the north to Sikkim in the east, ITBP Jawans performed yoga asanas on the occasion of the 10th International Yoga Day," an official statement from ITBP noted.
In Leh, ITBP personnel performed yoga at Karzok. Practising yoga in extreme weather conditions, such as the icy heights of the northern frontier or at high altitudes, can offer unique benefits.
It not only helps in building physical strength and flexibility but also enhances mental resilience and focus, allowing the Army and security forces to adapt and perform effectively in challenging environments.
Additionally, yoga can aid in combating altitude-related issues like oxygen deficiency and acclimatization, promoting overall well-being for personnel stationed in high-altitude regions.
Meanwhile, the Border Security Force (BSF) posted captivating visuals of BSF jawans performing yoga at the zero line at the Joint Check post at Attari, Amritsar. The session was supervised by Brig Pawan Bajaj (Retd), DIG BSF.
