India on Monday expressed deep concern over the renewed escalation of hostilities in West Asia following the latest exchange of strikes between Israel and Iran, and called for immediate de-escalation to prevent further instability in the region.
In a statement, the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) described the fresh attacks as a matter of “utmost concern” for the international community and urged all parties to exercise restraint.
“India deeply regrets the renewed attacks in West Asia. These developments are a matter of utmost concern to the international community,” the MEA said.
The government highlighted the humanitarian and economic consequences of the prolonged conflict, noting that the crisis had already inflicted significant suffering and disrupted global markets.
“This conflict has now lasted over 100 days and has already caused immense human suffering. It has also had a debilitating impact on the global economy and energy supplies,” the statement said.

India called on all sides to avoid actions that could further inflame tensions and instead focus on diplomatic efforts aimed at restoring peace.
“We call on all parties to immediately de-escalate tensions, ensure that civilians are not harmed and conclude ongoing negotiations for a diplomatic solution so that peace and stability can return to the region,” the MEA added.
The statement came after Israel and Iran exchanged fresh strikes, marking the first direct military confrontation between the two countries since a temporary ceasefire came into effect on April 8.
Amid the deteriorating security situation, the Indian Embassy in Tehran issued an advisory asking Indian nationals to avoid travelling to Iran. Those already in the country were advised to leave using available means of transport.
The latest escalation follows growing tensions in the region linked to the conflict involving Israel, Iran and Iran-backed groups. Iran launched strikes against Israel after warning of retaliation over repeated Israeli attacks in Lebanon, while Israel carried out fresh strikes in Beirut's southern suburbs.
The renewed hostilities have raised fears of a broader regional conflict, with major powers urging restraint. Reports indicated that US President Donald Trump had advised Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu against retaliatory action and favoured continued diplomatic engagement.
India has consistently advocated dialogue and diplomacy as the preferred route for resolving conflicts in West Asia and reiterated that peace, stability and the protection of civilians must remain the immediate priorities.
