China helped Islamabad with every possible support during the four-day military conflict between India and Pakistan in May, said the Deputy Chief of Army Staff Lieutenant General Rahul R Singh on Friday, asserting that Beijing leveraged Pakistan in order to inflict harm on India, more of a 'live lab' available to test various weapon systems.

Referring to Turkiye, China, and Pakistan, the senior Army official stated that India was dealing with three adversaries. Here, he suggested that besides Pakistan and China, Turkiye was also playing a central role in supplying military hardware to Islamabad.

Further supporting his point of China's consistent support to Pakistan, Lt Gen. Singh unveiled Beijing's ancient military strategy of "36 stratagems" and killing the adversary with a "borrowed knife".

The Deputy Chief of Army Staff, who looks after the Indian Army's capability development and sustenance vertical, said China's aid to Islamabad was not surprising as 81 per cent of the military hardware of the Pakistani armed forces is from China.

"China would rather use the neighbour to cause pain (to India) than get involved in a mudslinging match on the northern border. Pakistan was the front face. We had China providing all possible support. And there was no surprise because, if you look at the statistics in the last five years, 81 per cent of the military hardware that Pakistan is getting is all Chinese,"  Lt Gen. Singh said.

"We saw numerous drones coming and landing in the face of war, during the war, along with the individuals who were there," he added. The Deputy Chief of Army Staff said the "strategic messaging" by the Indian leadership was unambiguous, adding that the planning and selection of targets in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK) was based on a lot of data.

India's Operation Sindoor was a retaliatory attack against Pakistan-linked terrorists responsible for planning the 22 April Pahalgam terror attack. Under Operation Sindoor, the Indian Armed Forces targeted and destroyed terrorist infrastructure in territories controlled by Pakistan. The strikes triggered four days of intense clashes between the two nations, culminating in a ceasefire agreement on 10 May.
