India's wait for Apache AH-64E attack helicopters hopefully will end this month with the United States delivering the first batch of the combat helicopters, said the sources. India placed an order for three batches of six Apache helicopters each under a $600 million deal signed in 2020.
The combat attack helicopter will be deployed on India's western front.
The delivery is delayed by over 15 months. Originally, the first batch of Apache AH-64E attack helicopters was to be delivered by May or June 2024 but due to the technical issues, it was delayed to December 2024.

As of now, none have reached Indian soil, further prolonging the wait for the Jodhpur-based Apache squadron. Sources associated with the delivery schedule stated that India may now receive three Apache in the initial batch. The first Apache squadron of the Army Aviation Corps was raised in March 2024.
While the Army still awaits, the Indian Air Force has already inducted 22 Apache under a different deal signed in 2015.
The Indian Army is focusing on strengthening the country's Western border after Operation Sindoor, which was a retaliation act to 22 April's Pahalgam terror attack in India, which took 26 innocent lives.
