Prime Minister Narendra Modi is scheduled to visit three states—Maharashtra, Kerala and Andhra Pradesh—on the 1st and 2nd of May. His tour will focus on boosting India’s global standing in media and entertainment, enhancing infrastructure and improving regional connectivity.

On 1st May, the Prime Minister will be in Mumbai where he will inaugurate the World Audio Visual and Entertainment Summit (WAVES) 2025 at the Jio World Centre. The event is expected to begin around 10:30 in the morning.

WAVES 2025 is being hailed as India’s first global summit of its kind in the field of media and entertainment. It carries the theme “Connecting Creators, Connecting Countries” and aims to showcase India as a hub for creative and digital industries. The summit will bring together content creators, startups, industry leaders and policymakers from across the world.

The four-day event will feature a wide range of sectors including films, OTT platforms, gaming, animation, AI, comics, and broadcasting. It seeks to integrate creativity and technology to unlock business potential worth $50 billion by 2029.

As part of the summit, India will also host the Global Media Dialogue for the first time. This gathering will see participation from ministers of nearly 25 countries, strengthening India’s position in international media engagement.

Another major attraction will be the WAVES Bazaar, a digital marketplace featuring over 6,100 buyers, 5,200 sellers, and more than 2,000 projects. This platform is designed to encourage collaboration between global buyers and Indian content creators.

The Prime Minister will also visit the Creatosphere, a space showcasing winners from the “Create in India” challenges that attracted over one lakh registrations last year. He is expected to interact with selected creators and also tour the Bharat Pavilion.

WAVES 2025 is set to host delegates from over 90 countries, with more than 10,000 participants, 1,000 content creators, 300 companies and over 350 startups. The programme includes 42 plenary sessions, 39 breakout events and 32 masterclasses.

After his engagements in Mumbai, Prime Minister Modi will travel to Kerala on 2nd May. At around 10:30 AM, he will formally dedicate the Vizhinjam International Deepwater Multipurpose Seaport to the nation.

This seaport is notable as India’s first dedicated container transshipment port. Its development is expected to enhance maritime logistics and reduce India’s dependency on foreign ports for transshipment.

The Prime Minister will address the gathering at the event in Vizhinjam and highlight the port’s importance in boosting coastal development and regional trade.

Later the same day, around 3:30 PM, the Prime Minister will visit Amaravati in Andhra Pradesh. Here, he will lay the foundation stone, inaugurate and dedicate multiple development projects valued at more than ₹58,000 crore.

These include major investments in infrastructure, roadways, and rail connectivity aimed at accelerating economic growth in the region.
