After bouts of extremely heavy rain accompanied by lightning that killed more than a dozen people in Jharkhand, the Meteorological Centre in Ranchi has once again issued a yellow alert for several districts, including Ranchi, from 24 to 26 June.
According to the Meteorological Department, extremely heavy rainfall may lash Ranchi, Hazaribagh, Ramgarh, Khunti, Lohardaga, Gumla, Saraikela-Kharsawan, East Singhbhum, West Singhbhum, and Simdega districts between 24 and 26 June.
The meteorological office has also predicted thunderstorms in many parts of these areas.
On 23 June, there is a likelihood of rain in Garhwa, Palamu, Latehar, Chatra, Deoghar, Jamtara, Dumka, Pakur, Godda, and Sahibganj districts. A thunderstorm warning has also been issued for these areas, and people have been advised to remain cautious.
The Meteorological Department has stated that light to moderate rainfall is expected across the state. However, there remains a strong possibility of thunderstorms accompanied by heavy rain in certain districts.
The department has urged people to remain in safe places during rain and thunderstorms and to stay updated with weather-related warnings.
Notably, the monsoon entered Jharkhand on 17 June, and since then, heavy rain has been witnessed across the state. The Meteorological Centre in Ranchi noted that the low-pressure area that developed over the Bay of Bengal is now slowly moving across Jharkhand.
