Maoist-triggered IED blast injures STF jawan.

A jawan from the Jharkhand Special Task Force (STF), known as Jharkhand Jaguar, was injured in an IED blast triggered by Maoists in West Singhbhum district of Jharkhand on Monday.

The jawan, identified as Manoj Kumar Damai, belongs to the Jharkhand Jaguar 101 Battalion. He was immediately airlifted to Ranchi from the blast site for better medical treatment.

The incident occurred in the forests under the jurisdiction of the Chhota Nagara police station in West Singhbhum. At present, the condition of the injured soldier is reported to be stable and out of danger.

Sources stated that personnel from the Jharkhand Jaguar and the CRPF's CoBRA battalion were conducting a search operation to trace the squad of rewarded Maoist leader Anal.

Manoj Kumar Damai accidentally stepped on an IED planted by the Maoists, causing it to explode. Following the blast, an exchange of fire took place between the security forces and the Maoists.

After the incident, the forces intensified their operation in the area.

Earlier, on 12 April, jawan Sunil Dhan, who had been seriously injured in an IED explosion following an encounter with Maoists, succumbed to his injuries. That incident also occurred during a search operation in the Chhota Nagara police station area.

A large number of Naxal commanders remain active with their squads in the Saranda forest region. They have planted numerous IEDs, which detonate upon pressure or contact. Many security personnel have lost their lives in such explosions to date.

The security forces are continuing their operations against Maoists in the region. IEDs are being recovered almost daily, along with several arms and ammunition dumps used by the extremists.

Senior leaders of the banned organisation CPI (Maoist), including Misir Besra, Anmol, Mochu, Anal, Asim Mandal, Ajay Mahato and others, are reportedly moving with their squads in the Saranda and Kolhan areas to carry out destructive activities.
