Former Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on Sunday launched a strong criticism of the BJP-led government following the death of a nine-year-old girl who was allegedly sexually assaulted and murdered in the national capital. Kejriwal accused the BJP of completely failing to maintain law and order in Delhi and said that the safety of young girls is at serious risk.

“This horrific incident of the rape and murder of a 9-year-old innocent girl in Delhi has shaken everyone. The BJP has ruined the law and order situation in the capital. Even with a so-called 'four-engine' government in power, our daughters are not safe. Home Minister Amit Shah and this government must answer. The daughters of Delhi are not only seeking answers but demanding justice,” Kejriwal said.

According to Delhi Police, the girl succumbed to facial injuries at a hospital after she was allegedly sexually assaulted. A call was received about a girl found unconscious inside a suitcase, and by the time police arrived at the scene, the family had already taken the child to Jag Pravesh Chandra (JPC) Hospital. She was declared dead on arrival.

DCP North East Delhi Ashish Mishra confirmed the details, stating, “At 8:40 pm on June 7, a PCR call informed us that a 9-year-old girl had been found unconscious inside a suitcase. Police rushed to the location, but by then, the girl's family had already taken her to JPC Hospital. After an initial medical examination, doctors declared her dead. It is a case of sexual assault.”

Police registered a case under relevant sections related to murder and rape at the Dayalpur Police Station. The location where the girl was found has been sealed as part of the investigation.

Further details shared by police reveal that the Dayalpur Police Station received the call regarding the incident at 8:41 pm. When the police team reached the spot, they confirmed that the unconscious child had already been taken to the hospital by her father, where she was declared brought dead.

Preliminary findings from the attending doctors indicated visible injuries to her face and signs of sexual assault. The police also confirmed that crime scene experts and forensic science laboratory (FSL) teams were deployed to examine the area for evidence.

A case has been officially registered under sections 103(1), 66, and 13(2) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), along with provisions of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act. The investigation is ongoing, and authorities have assured that all necessary steps are being taken to identify and apprehend the accused.
