Delhi Minister Kailash Gahlot criticised the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) for what he sees as an attempt to divert public attention from the main issue following the arrest of Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on Saturday.

Gahlot expressed shock at the possibility of the Enforcement Directorate (ED) not issuing any notice and called for nationwide protests against what he described as BJP's "dictatorship" and the arrest of Kejriwal. He emphasised that the BJP has yet to address why the prime accused, Sharath Chandra Reddy, was granted bail in the case and highlighted the lack of evidence despite several raids.

The Enforcement Directorate summoned Delhi Transport Minister and AAP leader Kailash Gahlot for questioning in connection with the Delhi excise policy case. This development follows Kejriwal's arrest in the same case earlier in March. Gahlot's summons adds to the ongoing scrutiny surrounding the Delhi excise policy and its alleged links to money laundering.

In response to Kejriwal's arrest, AAP leader and Delhi Minister Gopal Rai announced a rally at Ramlila Maidan on March 31 in support of the Chief Minister. Prominent leaders from the INDIA alliance are expected to participate, including Mallikarjun Kharge, Rahul Gandhi, Sharad Pawar, Uddhav Thackeray, and others. The rally aims to garner nationwide support against Kejriwal's arrest and the perceived injustice surrounding the case.

Kejriwal, during his court appearance, denounced the ED's motives and labelled the ongoing investigation as an attempt to suppress the Aam Aadmi Party. Despite the case's duration of two years, Kejriwal maintained that no allegations have been substantiated.

In response to Kejriwal's arrest, the INDIA bloc plans to stage a protest outside the BJP headquarters in Delhi, with participation from Congress, AAP, and Left parties. The demonstration underscores growing political tensions and opposition to what critics perceive as an attack on democratic principles and opposition leaders.

The unfolding events reflect a deepening political crisis in Delhi, with allegations of political targeting and attempts to silence dissent. The upcoming protests and legal battles are poised to intensify as the political landscape becomes increasingly polarised.
