Trinamool Congress MP Mahua Moitra and Biju Janata Dal (BJD) leader Pinaki Misra were recently seen dancing together to the timeless Bollywood classic "Raat Ke Humsafar" during their wedding celebration in Germany. The video of their graceful performance quickly went viral after Mahua Moitra shared it on her Instagram story, capturing the attention of fans and followers alike.
The couple was elegantly dressed in coordinated peach-toned outfits for the occasion. Ms Moitra wore a pale pink Banarasi silk saree adorned with traditional gold jewellery, while Mr Misra complemented her look in a peach waistcoat. Their chemistry and synchronized moves drew warm reactions online, with many social media users sending heartfelt wishes. One X (formerly Twitter) user remarked, "Wishing both of you a very happy married life. Political ideologies will never align, but some things shouldn't be mixed together like they're the same thing."
The wedding took place in Berlin on May 30 in a quiet and intimate ceremony. Mahua Moitra also shared a photo of herself and Mr Misra cutting a beautifully crafted two-tier wedding cake. The cake was noted for its creative personal touches, featuring miniature figurines, a gavel, briefcases, sunglasses, and a handbag—each element symbolizing aspects of the couple's lives.
Ms Moitra, known for her bold presence in Indian politics and sharp oratory in Parliament, has a well-known fondness for designer handbags, a detail cleverly included in the cake design. Mr Misra, a respected senior advocate at the Supreme Court and a seasoned politician, was represented on the cake by legal motifs like the gavel and briefcases, reflecting his extensive professional legacy in both law and public service.
Mahua Moitra, born in 1974, began her career in the financial sector, working in investment banking in New York and London before transitioning into Indian politics. She has since become one of the most outspoken voices in the Trinamool Congress.
Pinaki Misra, born in 1959, is a four-time Lok Sabha MP from Puri, Odisha. He has built a distinguished career as a lawyer and politician, and is currently affiliated with Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik’s Biju Janata Dal (BJD). Their union brought together two influential figures from different political spectrums, celebrated not only for their personal commitment but also for the grace and warmth reflected in their low-key celebration.
