CP Joshi takes charge of Lok Sabha’s Petition Committee.

Chittorgarh MP CP Joshi has been appointed as the Chairman of the Lok Sabha’s Petition Committee.

The 15-member committee, responsible for addressing public grievances submitted through petitions, will now be led by Joshi, with 14 other MPs serving as members.

The newly appointed members include Anto Antony, Mitesh Patel Bakabhai, Sukhdev Bhagat, Raju Bista, Gurmeet Singh, Bastipati Nagaraju, Dr Rajkumar Sangwan, Kamaljeet Shehrawat, Manju Sharma, Vishnu Dutt Sharma, Abhay Kumar Sinha, and Rajmohan Unnithan.

Their role will be to examine petitions, seek government responses, prepare reports, review ministry perspectives, and ensure that citizens’ rights are upheld.

Joshi, a senior BJP leader from Rajasthan, currently serves on the Public Undertakings Committee and the Energy Committee in Parliament.

Previously, he chaired the Joint Committee on the Multi-State Cooperative Society (Amendment) Bill, 2022. His experience in handling legislative matters has made him a key figure in parliamentary affairs.

Following his appointment, Joshi expressed his gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Home Minister Amit Shah, and Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla for their trust and support. In a post on X, he said, “I express my heartfelt thanks and gratitude to the esteemed Prime Minister Shri @narendramodi, Hon’ble Home Minister Shri @AmitShah, and Lok Sabha Speaker Shri @ombirlakota!”

The Petition Committee plays a crucial role in parliamentary proceedings by addressing public concerns brought through petitions.

It provides citizens with a platform to raise issues related to governance, administration, and legislative matters. The committee’s work often results in recommendations for policy changes and government action.

Joshi’s appointment is seen as a strategic move, given his administrative experience and deep understanding of public issues.

As a former Rajasthan BJP state president, he has been actively involved in state and national politics. His leadership in the committee is expected to enhance the effectiveness of the grievance redressal mechanism in Parliament.

Apart from his legislative duties, Joshi remains closely connected with his constituency. On Monday, he visited the village of Mayra in the Chittorgarh assembly constituency to inspect the opium crop.

During his visit, he interacted with local families and participated in the process of chirai, or harvesting, in the opium fields.

His visit reflects his engagement with the concerns of farmers in his region. The opium crop is a significant source of livelihood for many farmers in Rajasthan, and Joshi’s presence in the fields underscores his commitment to understanding their issues firsthand.
