A member of Congress party KC Venugopal filed for an adjournment motion notice in the Lok Sabha on Tuesday demanding adjournment of the house to debate the ongoing crisis in the country’s exam system, papers being leaked, and police action against students who took out protests on this matter. As per the notice filed by Venugopal, there were reports about leakage of question papers in 152 different cases of competitive exams, which included NEET as well. The leader claimed that although there was a huge crisis in the matter but nothing had been done against the culprits involved in this matter. Venugopal raised serious concerns regarding police action against protesting students and wanted Minister of Union Education Dharmendra Pradhan to give a suo motu statement in the House.
In the same vein, MP from Congress party, Manickam Tagore filed an adjournment motion in the Lok Sabha seeking urgent discussion on the allegations regarding the forceful action taken by Delhi Police and Railway Protection Force against students who had protested outside Parliament House. According to Manickam Tagore, the authorities have been using excessive force against students peacefully protesting to seek accountability while simultaneously criticising the ban on mobile internet in the Parliament zone. He appealed to the government to file an official statement on the issue of force used, justification for internet shutdown, and an investigation into the whole episode.
On the other hand, in the Rajya Sabha, Congress Member of Parliament Syed Naseer Hussain filed a notice according to Rule 267 suspending scheduled business so as to discuss the crisis that had occurred in India’s examination system. In his notice, Syed Naseer Hussain demanded an immediate discussion regarding the cancellation of NEET-UG 2026 in connection with the leak of papers, implementation problems of the On-Screen Marking system by CBSE, and failure of recruitment examinations. It should be noted that these constant disruptions have adversely affected the trust of the public in the examination system causing tremendous psychological pressure on the students.
