The National Council of Educational Research and Training (NCERT) has launched a free online Class 12 mathematics course via the government’s SWAYAM platform, in a bid to provide high-quality academic support to students who may not have access to private tuition or paid coaching.
Designed to build conceptual clarity and boost problem-solving skills, the course offers e-textbooks, recorded video lectures, practice questions and additional learning tools across major topics in the Class 12 mathematics syllabus. Students can register directly through the SWAYAM website.
The course covers Relations and Functions, Inverse Trigonometric Functions, Matrices, Determinants, Continuity and Differentiability, and Applications of Derivatives. It is structured week-by-week to allow learners to move through each topic at a manageable pace, with a strong focus on doubt-clearing and application-centred learning.

NCERT said the initiative aims to provide equal learning opportunities to students across the country and reduce dependence on external coaching. The Council believes that easy access to quality digital resources will help students gain the confidence required to pursue higher education and careers that require a firm grasp of mathematics.
In addition to the Class 12 mathematics programme, NCERT is offering several other free courses on SWAYAM covering subjects such as Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Economics, Political Science and English for Classes 11 and 12. Foundation level courses for Classes 9 and 10 in subjects like Science, Social Science and Mathematics are also available. Each course is structured with e-texts, video lessons, weekly assignments and self-assessment quizzes, allowing students from diverse backgrounds to strengthen their academic preparation without relying on paid coaching.
Students can visit the official SWAYAM portal (www.swayam.gov.in) to register for the new mathematics course and explore other free NCERT courses currently available across different subjects and class levels.
