A new video, showing the desperate situation of tourists during the deadly terror attack in Pahalgam, has gone viral on social media. The attack, carried out by terrorists associated with a faction of Lashkar-e-Taiba, claimed the lives of 26 people, with only one being a local resident.
The tragic event took place on April 22, when the tourists were caught in a sudden assault in the picturesque Baisaran Valley.
The video footage captures several men, women, and children huddled around a kiosk selling Kashmiri outfits, seeking shelter as the sound of gunfire echoes in the distance. The image of helplessness and fear is palpable as the tourists, trapped in the valley, can only hope for safety while gunshots reverberate nearby.
According to reports, the terrorists specifically targeted a group of tourists, shooting down several men. Some survivors later reported that the attackers deliberately singled out the Hindus, confirming their religion before shooting them.
In the aftermath of the attack, multiple videos have surfaced, showcasing the chaos and terror that engulfed the region. These videos not only document the horrifying experiences of the tourists but also highlight the bravery of local residents, who, despite the grave danger, took significant risks to rescue as many lives as possible. These heroes, often putting their own safety aside, played a key role in saving many tourists during the attack.

One of the victims of the attack was a Kashmiri pony handler, who had been working to escort tourists on ponies. The pony handler, showing immense courage, tried to shield a tourist with his own body but was tragically shot by the terrorists while attempting to protect the visitor.
In the wake of the massacre, the Indian government has taken several non-military actions in response, with strong support from the opposition.
As part of these measures, the Indus Water Treaty has been indefinitely suspended, the Attari border has been shut down, and the visas of all Pakistani nationals in India have been revoked. These steps have been taken as part of a broader strategy to respond to the attack and put pressure on Pakistan.
Although military action has not been officially ruled out, it was not addressed during the all-party meeting held last week, which focused on other measures to counter Pakistan in light of the attack.
