Thailand’s Opal Suchata Chuangsri has won the 72nd Miss World title. She was crowned by Miss World 2024 Krystyna Pyszkova at the finale ceremony held at the HITEX Exhibition Centre in Telangana on 31 May.
While Ethiopia’s Hasset Dereje emerged first runner-up, Maja Klajda from Poland won the second runner-up title. Martinique’s Aurlie Joachim made it to the top four. India's Miss World contestant Nandini Gupta was eliminated before she could reach top 8.
According to the organisers, after a month of purpose-driven activities, cultural immersion, and inspiring challenges across Telangana, 108 contestants from around the world vied for the Miss World crown in a spectacular celebration of beauty, purpose, and unity.
The winner Opal is a student of international relations. She has an interest in Psychology and Anthropology and she would one day like to be an ambassador. She has volunteered for organisations working in the field of breast cancer. Opal has a special talent for playing the Ukelele backwards and has sixteen cats and five dogs as pets, according to the Miss World website.
Julia Morley CBE, Chairwoman of Miss World, headed the jury and announced the winner of the 72nd Miss World. Renowned actor Sonu Sood received the prestigious Miss World Humanitarian Award.

The grand finale began with an introduction of all 108 contestants. From there, the competition narrowed to the Top 10 contestants from each continent, followed by the Top 5 from each. Finally, the Top 2 from each continent were announced, making up the Top 8.
From the Americas and Caribbean, Miss Brazil and Miss Martinique advanced. Miss Ethiopia and Miss Namibia were selected from Africa, while Miss Poland and Miss Ukraine progressed from Europe.
The final four contestants — one from each continent — were Miss Martinique, Miss Ethiopia, Miss Poland and Miss Thailand. Earlier in the competition, Nandini Gupta had gained attention as one of the four continental winners during the Top Model Challenge, which was held at The Trident in Hyderabad. Alongside her were Jasmine Gerhardt of Ireland (Europe), Selma Kamanya of Namibia (Africa), and Aurelie Joachim of Martinique (Americas and Caribbean).
The opening ceremony of Miss World 2025 featured a colourful showcase of India’s cultural diversity, including Telangana’s state song and a traditional Perini dance performance. Contestants walked in holding their national flags, with Gupta proudly bearing the Indian tricolour.
Although the crown remains elusive for India this year, Gupta’s journey continues to inspire young women across the country. The last Indian to win Miss World was Manushi Chhillar in 2017.

The minister appreciated the participants from across the globe, officials, and all delegates who played a key role in making the event a memorable celebration of beauty, culture, and international harmony.
He also congratulated the winner of Miss World 2025, appreciating her remarkable poise, talent, and inspiring presence throughout the competition.
The Minister further thanked all the teams, departments, and supporters behind the scenes for their dedication and seamless coordination, which helped showcase Telangana’s hospitality and cultural vibrancy to the world. He, further, added that Telangana remains committed to hosting global events that promote cultural exchange and position the state as a premier international destination.
