Leader of the Opposition in Lok Sabha, Rahul Gandhi, on Thursday alleged that it was an “open and shut case” of the Election Commission of India (ECI) stealing votes for the Bharatiya Janata Party, citing findings of a detailed investigation carried out by the Congress.
Speaking to reporters outside Parliament, Gandhi claimed that once the investigation findings are made public, they will “explode like an atom bomb” and the Election Commission “will nowhere be seen under the impact of the blast”.
Issuing a sharp warning, he said those responsible, from top to bottom, for allegedly manipulating votes in favour of the BJP will be held accountable, as it amounted to “treason” against the country. “No matter where you are, retired or not, we will find you out,” he asserted.

Gandhi said that his party’s suspicions first arose in Madhya Pradesh and were further strengthened by developments in Maharashtra, where “one crore fresh voters were added within a span of few months only”.
“Since the ECI did not support or cooperate with us, we did our own investigation and what we found in the investigations is like an atom bomb and once it explodes, EC will not be seen anywhere,” Gandhi said.
He said the Congress had conducted the investigation with “depth and granularity”, and it had taken the party nearly six months to compile the findings. “The entire country will come to know how the Election Commission has been stealing votes for the BJP,” he added.
