An all-party meeting chaired by Defence Minister Rajnath Singh concluded on Thursday and parties across the spectrum pledged full support to the government following Operation Sindoor.
The meeting, which lasted just over an hour, was held amid rising tensions after India’s deep-strike military action in response to the Pahalgam terror attack.
Opening the meeting, Singh spoke for only five minutes. He said the situation remained active and operational details could not be disclosed at this stage.
Leaders from various parties were each given around four to five minutes to speak. Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge raised two issues — media reports about an Indian Rafale being shot down, and the absence of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

However, there was no demand for a direct response from the government on either point.
Kharge said, “We told them we’ll stand with the government in the nation’s interest. The PM may think he is above Parliament. We’ll speak when the time is right, but for now, we will not criticise anyone in this moment of crisis.”
Congress leader Rahul Gandhi echoed this sentiment. “Yes, there are concerns, but this is the time to be together,” he said.
Rajnath Singh closed the meeting by thanking the leaders. He said the message of political unity would serve as a morale boost to the armed forces and offer reassurance to the public.
The meeting was called to brief leaders on Operation Sindoor — a retaliatory military action against terror camps in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir — and the security situation following the Pahalgam terror attack.
