Over 400 Indian citizens from Iran and Israel landed safely at New Delhi on Tuesday, 24 June, as part of the government's Operation Sindhu, the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) confirmed. With this latest arrival, India has now repatriated 2,295 of its citizens from Iran as tensions rise in the Middle East.
The Israel phase of the operation, which started on Monday through Jordan, recorded its first successful repatriation flight, as 161 citizens arrived in New Delhi from Amman on Tuesday morning.
The MEA tweeted on X, "292 Indian nationals were evacuated from Iran on a special flight which arrived in New Delhi from Mashhad at 0330 hrs on 24 June. 2295 Indian nationals have now been brought home from Iran."
In a separate post, the ministry further said, "The Israel portion of Operation Sindhu commenced on June 23, 2025, repatriating the first batch of 161 Indian nationals from Israel. They arrived safely today at New Delhi at 0820 hrs from Amman, Jordan."

The group was received personally by union minister of state for external affairs Pabitra Margherita at the airport.
Addressing the media, he stated, "I am extremely pleased to receive the first batch of 161 Indian nationals who have been evacuated from Israel. This group has arrived safely just a short while ago at New Delhi airport."
"We are keeping a close eye on the developments and are dedicated to offering all necessary and possible help to our citizens in Iran and Israel. All the nationals under Operation Sindhu are reaching safely," the MoS added.
Most of the evacuees thanked the Indian government for facilitating their safe return under perilous conditions.
