AIMIM president Asaduddin Owaisi on Tuesday condemned the recent nuclear threats made against India by Pakistan's Army Chief, Asim Munir, from American soil. Owaisi stated that the threats warrant a political response from the Modi government.

In a post on 'X', Owaisi called Munir's threats and language "condemnable" and said it was made worse by the fact that it occurred in the United States. He argued that this "misuse of American soil" is unacceptable to India and its citizens, and demanded that the central government lodge a strong protest with the US.

All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen leader Owaisi also called for India to modernise its armed forces, given what he described as Pakistan's military designs. He criticised the "low budgetary allocation for defence by the Modi Government," stating that it "can't continue any longer" and that India needs to be better prepared.

The Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) also responded to Munir’s remarks, stating that his threats reinforced long-held doubts about the integrity of Pakistan’s nuclear command and control.

The MEA said that in a country where the military is "hand-in-glove" with terrorist groups, New Delhi would not give in to any "nuclear blackmail." The ministry described "nuclear sabre-rattling" as Pakistan's "stock-in-trade," and asserted that India would continue to take all necessary steps to safeguard its national security. It also expressed regret that the remarks were made from the soil of a "friendly third country," in a clear message to Washington.
