New information in the ongoing investigation into the recent terror attack in the Baisaran Valley of Pahalgam, which claimed the lives of 26 civilians, suggests that the terrorists used gunfire to celebrate their act of violence. The three terrorists who carried out the attack were reportedly observed shooting into the air right after the massacre, a terrifying and egregious act of violence, according to security establishment sources.
An eyewitness, now regarded by the National Investigation Agency (NIA) as a vital intelligence asset, has made a major breakthrough in the investigation. The authorities are using the crucial information provided by the eyewitness, a local service provider who came into contact with the terrorists shortly after the incident took place, to piece together the attack's timeline.
In the presence of two local people who are currently being held by the National Investigation Agency (NIA) for allegedly aiding the attackers logistically was also verified by the eyewitness. The fact that these two men were allegedly in charge of the terrorists' possessions at the scene further links them to the fatal attack.

Among the attackers identified is a senior Lashkar-e-Taiba commander named Sulaiman. He is a notorious figure already wanted in connection with three previous terror incidents in Jammu and Kashmir, including a high-profile assault on the agency responsible for constructing the Z Morh tunnel. The brutal attack took place on April 22, when Pakistan-based terrorists opened fire on tourists in the popular Baisaran Valley in Pahalgam. The majority of the 26 victims were visiting the region as tourists. The Resistance Front (TRF), a proxy group of the Pakistan-based Lashkar-e-Taiba, claimed responsibility for the attack.
The following recent slaughter, India retaliated against Pakistan in a number of ways. The Indus Waters Treaty was suspended, Pakistani diplomats were expelled, the Attari-Wagah border was closed, and several important bilateral agreements were put on hold. India's strong message of zero tolerance for cross-border terrorism was emphasised by these diplomatic and strategic sanctions.
