In the wake of Pakistan’s attempted missile and drone attacks on Indian cities on Thursday night, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday morning spoke with Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel to assess the security situation in the border state.
During the call, the Prime Minister inquired about Gujarat’s readiness as a frontline state and was briefed on the state government's proactive measures.
Chief Minister Patel said that the Prime Minister offered guidance during the conversation and was updated on the safety and security arrangements made in sensitive districts including Kutch, Banaskantha, Patan, and Jamnagar—all of which share proximity to the international border.
The Chief Minister reassured the Prime Minister that the administration had undertaken advance planning and implemented all necessary precautions.
In addition to his briefing to the Prime Minister, CM Patel chaired a state-wide review meeting with top officials to evaluate preparedness. As part of the precautionary steps, the Gujarat government has imposed a temporary ban on the use of firecrackers and civilian drone operations across the state. This ban will remain in effect until May 15.
