Prime Minister Narendra Modi chaired a high-level meeting at his residence in New Delhi on Saturday, attended by Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, National Security Advisor Ajit Doval, Chief of Defence Staff (CDS), and the chiefs of the Indian Armed Forces, following India’s pre-dawn strikes on four Pakistani airbases.
The strikes were reportedly conducted in retaliation for Pakistan’s attacks on 26 Indian locations earlier in the day, escalating the already volatile border situation.
Earlier in the day, Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri, Colonel Sophia Qureshi, and Wing Commander Vyomika Singh briefed the media on the rapidly unfolding situation, providing insights into the ongoing military engagements and countering Pakistan’s narrative.
Misri Highlighted that Pakistan’s actions were being viewed as “escalatory” and “provocative” by India. “Pakistan’s actions constituted provocation, escalation. In response, India defended and reacted in a responsible and measured fashion,” Misri said during the press briefing, where he also presented evidence countering Pakistan’s claims.

The Indian side categorically dismissed what it described as a “malicious misinformation campaign” by Pakistan, which falsely claimed destruction of critical Indian military assets and infrastructure. Misri noted that India had rejected these fabrications, which he said were aimed at misleading the international community and creating panic.
Wing Commander Vyomika Singh, speaking at the same briefing, refuted Pakistan’s claims of damaging the S-400 system at Adhampur, airfields at Suratgarh and Sirsa, the BrahMos space at Nagrota, and artillery gun positions in Dehrangyari and Chandigarh. She called these claims part of a broader strategy to undermine India’s military preparedness and public morale.
Singh further highlighted Pakistan’s aggressive posturing along the Line of Control (LoC), including multiple air intrusions using drones and heavy-calibre artillery shelling that has threatened civilian infrastructure and caused casualties.
Meanwhile, heavy shelling and cross-border firing were reported from various locations along the Pakistan border on Saturday, further escalating tensions.
