Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday extended his greetings to teachers on the occasion of Teachers’ Day, describing them as the foundation of a "stronger and brighter future." He also paid his respects to former President Dr Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan, whose birth anniversary is celebrated as Teachers’ Day in India.
In a post on the social media platform X, the Prime Minister wrote: "Wishing everyone, particularly all hardworking teachers, a very happy #TeachersDay! The dedication of teachers to nurturing minds is the foundation of a stronger and brighter future. Their commitment and compassion are noteworthy."
He further added, "We also remember the life and thoughts of Dr S Radhakrishnan, a distinguished scholar and teacher, on his birth anniversary."
Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan also shared his greetings, which included a sand art tribute to Dr Radhakrishnan by artist Sudarsan Pattnaik. In his own post, Pradhan stated, "On Teachers’ Day, I salute all the gurus who are helping students realise their full potential. Their hard work and dedication is fostering excellence, illuminating lives and contributing to national development."

Defence Minister Rajnath Singh joined in the tributes, saying that teachers are "the guiding light who shape young minds, instill values and nurture future leaders."
In a post written in Hindi, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath honoured Dr Radhakrishnan, describing his contributions to philosophy and education as an inspiration for the building of a "Modern India–Educated India."
Each year, the President of India honours outstanding educators by presenting the National Awards to Teachers at Vigyan Bhawan. On Thursday, Prime Minister Modi met with this year's awardees, and during his interaction, he said that the respect for teachers in Indian society is "natural and timeless". He emphasised that honouring them is "not merely a ritual but recognition of their lifelong dedication and impact."
