PM Modi to inaugurate green energy projects in Gujarat.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will embark on a two-day visit to Gujarat on August 25 and 26, where he is scheduled to inaugurate, lay foundation stones and dedicate to the nation several development projects worth more than ₹5,400 crore.

According to the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO), Modi will arrive at Khodaldham ground in Ahmedabad at around 6 p.m. on 25 August to inaugurate and dedicate a series of initiatives to the nation. He will also address a public gathering on the occasion.

On August 26, at around 10:30 a.m., the Prime Minister will visit Hansalpur in Ahmedabad, where he will inaugurate the localised production of hybrid battery electrodes and flag off battery electric vehicle exports to 100 countries. He will also address the event.

In line with his vision of strengthening world-class infrastructure and connectivity, Modi will dedicate multiple railway projects worth over ₹1,400 crore to the nation.

These include the doubling of the 65 km Mahesana-Palanpur rail line at a cost of more than ₹530 crore, along with the gauge conversion of the 37 km Kalol-Kadi-Katosan Road rail line and the 40 km Bechraji-Ranuj rail line worth more than ₹860 crore.

The expansion of broad-gauge capacity is expected to ensure smoother, safer and more seamless connectivity, benefiting daily commuters, tourists and businesses, while fostering greater regional economic integration.

As part of these efforts, the Prime Minister will flag off a passenger train service between Katosan Road and Sabarmati, providing better access to religious destinations and encouraging grassroots-level economic activity.

In addition, he will inaugurate a car-loaded freight train service from Bechraji to strengthen industrial connectivity, enhance the logistics network and generate employment opportunities in the state.

Furthering his commitment to connectivity and commuter safety, Modi will also inaugurate the widening of the Viramgam-Khudad-Rampura road.

He will lay foundation stones for six-lane vehicle underpasses on the Ahmedabad-Mehsana-Palanpur road, a railway overbridge on the Ahmedabad-Viramgam road, and other infrastructure initiatives designed to boost industrial growth, improve transport efficiency and create new opportunities for regional development.

In a significant boost to Gujarat’s power sector, Modi will inaugurate distribution projects in Ahmedabad, Mehsana and Gandhinagar under Uttar Gujarat Vij Company Limited (UGVCL).

Valued at more than ₹1,000 crore, these projects, implemented under the Revamped Distribution Sector Scheme, are aimed at reducing losses, modernising the network and strengthening infrastructure.

The projects will help minimise power outages during adverse weather, enhance public safety, provide transformer protection and improve the reliability of electricity supply.

The Prime Minister will also inaugurate the development of slums at Sector-3 of Ramapir No Tekro under the In Situ Slum Rehabilitation component of PMAY (U).

He will lay the foundation stone for major road-widening works on the Sardar Patel Ring Road in Ahmedabad to ease traffic congestion and improve connectivity.

Alongside this, he will initiate urban infrastructure projects to improve water and sewerage management systems.

As part of efforts to strengthen governance and public service delivery, Modi will lay the foundation stone for key administrative infrastructure projects.

These include the construction of a new Stamps and Registration Building in Ahmedabad West, designed to enhance citizen-centric services, and the establishment of a State-Level Data Storage Centre at Gandhinagar to ensure secure data management and improve digital governance capabilities across Gujarat.

On August 26, the Prime Minister will also mark two historic milestones at the Suzuki Motor plant in Hansalpur, Ahmedabad. He will inaugurate Suzuki’s first global strategic Battery Electric Vehicle (BEV), the “e VITARA”, under the Make in India initiative.

These Made-in-India BEVs will be exported to more than 100 countries, including advanced markets such as Europe and Japan, positioning India as Suzuki’s global manufacturing hub for electric vehicles.

In another major development, Modi will inaugurate the start of local production of hybrid battery electrodes at the TDS Lithium-Ion Battery plant in Gujarat.

The facility is a joint venture between Toshiba, Denso and Suzuki.

With more than 80 per cent of the battery value now being manufactured domestically, the project represents a significant leap towards India’s self-reliance in green energy, while also boosting domestic manufacturing and innovation in clean technology.
