In a history-shaping move to transform the administrative landscape of India, Prime Minister Narendra Modi today inaugurated "Seva Teerth," a new, fully integrated complex housing the Prime Minister's Office. For the first time since Independence, the PMO has been shifted from its erstwhile location to this ultra-modern facility aimed at consolidating the key executive functions under one roof and promoting efficiency and coordination in functioning.
The Prime Minister also released a special ₹100 coin on the occasion, which coincides with exactly 95 years after New Delhi was inaugurated as the capital in 1931.
The new complex brings together the PMO, the National Security Council Secretariat, and the Cabinet Secretariat, ending decades of fragmented operations in ageing buildings across the Central Vista. It can be noted here that the HA standards ensure the latest building designs are equipped with the latest digital technology.
Once both South and North Blocks are vacated, the government plans to transform these icons of colonial architecture into a "Yuge Yugeen Bharat Sangrahalaya," which is said to be a world-class museum that would display India's history over 5,000 years.
