Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday inaugurated and laid the foundation for infrastructure and energy projects worth over ₹48,520 crore during a public function in Bihar’s Karakat, aimed at bolstering regional connectivity and power generation capacity in the eastern state.
The Prime Minister arrived in Patna on Thursday for a two-day visit to Bihar. On Friday, he launched key initiatives including the four-laning of the Patna–Gaya–Dobhi section of National Highway-22, valued at approximately ₹5,520 crore. Also inaugurated was the four-laning of the elevated highway and grade improvements at Gopalganj Town on NH–27.
Among the significant rail projects, Prime Minister Modi dedicated to the nation the newly built third railway line between Son Nagar and Mohammad Ganj, constructed at a cost of over ₹1,330 crore.
The Prime Minister also laid the foundation stone for the ambitious Nabinagar Super Thermal Power Project, Stage-II (3x800 MW), in Aurangabad district. The project, estimated at ₹29,930 crore, is aimed at strengthening energy security for Bihar and the broader eastern region of India.
Karakat, the venue of Friday’s event, is a block located in Bihar’s Rohtas district. The occasion witnessed the presence of Bihar Governor Arif Mohammad Khan, Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, Deputy Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary, Union ministers, and several senior officials.
In a push to road infrastructure development in Bihar, the Prime Minister also laid the foundation for multiple projects. These include the four-laning of the Patna–Arrah–Sasaram section of NH-119A, the six-laning of the Varanasi–Ranchi–Kolkata highway (NH-319B), the Ramnagar–Kacchi Dargah stretch (NH-119D), and the construction of a new bridge across the Ganga river between Buxar and Bharauli.
These developments are expected to significantly improve road connectivity and traffic flow across major transit routes in Bihar and adjoining states.

On Thursday evening, the Prime Minister led an extensive roadshow in Patna, which began near Aranya Bhawan and culminated at the state BJP headquarters, a distance of around 4 km. The procession lasted over an hour due to the Prime Minister’s slow-moving convoy.
Thousands lined the streets and climbed rooftops for a glimpse of Modi, who greeted the crowd with folded hands and waves from his vehicle.
Later, Modi delivered a motivational address to BJP leaders at the party office on Birchand Patel Marg, offering them a “mantra for victory” in the forthcoming assembly elections.
He then attended a private function at Deputy Chief Minister Vijay Kumar Sinha’s residence, where he retired for the night at the Raj Bhavan.
The DyCM later posted images of Modi at his Strand Road residence, commenting, “It was an unforgettable moment for all party workers.”
