Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday held a breakfast interaction with 36 Rajya Sabha members, advising them to remain connected with the people, stay away from lobbyists and power brokers, and uphold the dignity of Parliament.
According to people familiar with the meeting, Modi urged lawmakers to value their position in the Upper House and remember that countless people aspire to serve in Parliament. He cautioned them against individuals who may approach them as well-wishers but seek to misuse their influence for vested interests.
One MP who attended the meeting said the Prime Minister compared such people to a "spider's web", warning that they gradually entangle public representatives. He encouraged lawmakers to remain grounded and never lose touch with their roots, adding that he personally follows the same principle.
The meeting, part of Modi's regular interactions with MPs during Parliament sessions, included senior BJP leaders as well as several Rajya Sabha members who have joined the party from other political formations in recent months.

The Prime Minister also emphasised the importance of understanding parliamentary procedures and encouraged newer MPs to make greater use of Parliament's library and explore its historical collections and artworks. Senior members, he said, should guide their younger colleagues in legislative functioning.
Technology and public communication also figured prominently in the discussion. Modi advised MPs to use digital platforms responsibly, strengthen engagement with constituents—particularly the youth—and remain mindful of the potential misuse of social media. Attendees were reportedly provided with an assessment of their social media presence and advised to maintain decorum while interacting with the media.
The Prime Minister also highlighted the importance of personal discipline, urging MPs to stay physically active, remain aware of their surroundings and not take Parliament sessions casually.
Among those present were BJP leaders Tarun Chugh, Vinod Tawde and Rajneesh Agrawal, along with several Rajya Sabha members who have recently joined the BJP, including Swati Maliwal, Raghav Chadha, Ashok Mittal, Sandeep Pathak, Vikramjit Singh Sahney, Sushmita Dev and Debasish Samantray.
