Qatar Amir to meet President Murmu and PM Modi in India.

Qatar’s Amir, Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, will embark on a state visit to India on February 17-18 at the invitation of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

The visit, confirmed by the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA), is expected to strengthen bilateral ties in trade, investment, energy, and other key sectors.

The Amir will be accompanied by a high-level delegation, including senior ministers, officials, and business leaders. This will mark his second visit to India, the first being in March 2015. During his stay, he will receive a ceremonial welcome at Rashtrapati Bhavan on February 18.

He is scheduled to hold discussions with President Droupadi Murmu, who will also host a banquet in his honour. Talks with Prime Minister Narendra Modi will focus on expanding cooperation across multiple domains, including regional and global developments.

India and Qatar share strong historical ties based on mutual respect and trust. In recent years, the partnership between the two countries has expanded in areas such as trade, energy, technology, and cultural exchanges.

The MEA highlighted that Qatar is home to the largest Indian expatriate community, which has played a crucial role in the Gulf nation's progress and development.

Earlier this year, External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar visited Doha for his first diplomatic engagement of 2025, where he met Qatar’s Prime Minister and Foreign Minister, Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani.

Their discussions focused on reviewing bilateral cooperation and addressing regional and global issues.

The upcoming visit of the Amir is expected to provide new momentum to the growing relationship between India and Qatar. The discussions will likely pave the way for deeper strategic engagement and new economic opportunities, further enhancing the multifaceted partnership between the two nations.
