Rajya Sabha MP and Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader Raghav Chadha has strongly defended his party’s track record in governance, emphasising that the AAP government in Delhi has lived up to its promises over the years.
Speaking during an interview, Chadha detailed the achievements of the Delhi government while outlining the party’s preparedness for the upcoming Assembly elections.
Chadha asserted that AAP has consistently delivered on its commitments to the people of Delhi. He highlighted key infrastructure and welfare initiatives, noting the substantial work done in sectors such as education, healthcare, and public utilities.
According to Chadha, the government has constructed over 10,000 kilometres of roads, built 38 flyovers, laid down nearly 7,000 kilometres of sewage and drainage lines, and provided 4,000 kilometres of water pipelines.
He also highlighted the establishment of more than 500 mohalla clinics and the addition of 9,000 beds in Delhi’s hospitals. In the education sector, nearly 23,000 classrooms have been built, with schools upgraded to offer world-class infrastructure.
Chadha reiterated that AAP’s flagship schemes, including free electricity and water, have been sustained throughout its tenure, describing these achievements as proof of the party’s commitment to its promises.
As the Assembly elections approach, Chadha said that his party is fully prepared. He acknowledged that the election campaign is unfolding during the holiday season but maintained that political activity has intensified.
He pointed to AAP leader Arvind Kejriwal’s active outreach efforts, where Kejriwal has been engaging with the public and presenting his vision for the next five years.
Chadha highlighted schemes such as the Mahila Samman Yojana and the Sanjeevani Yojana, as well as promises targeted at Dalit households, as part of the party’s forward-looking agenda.
Responding to criticisms from the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), Chadha dismissed their allegations as “fictional charge sheets.”
He argued that even AAP’s detractors recognise its exceptional performance in education and healthcare, which he described as the two standout areas of governance under his party’s leadership.
However, Chadha also acknowledged some challenges that still need attention. He admitted that cleaning the Yamuna River and ensuring a 24/7 water supply across Delhi remain areas requiring further effort. He attributed the delay in achieving these goals to two major disruptions.
According to Chadha, two and a half years were lost to the Covid-19 pandemic, while the remaining time was impacted by the incarceration of senior AAP leaders, including Arvind Kejriwal, Satyendar Jain, and Manish Sisodia.
Despite these setbacks, Chadha expressed confidence in AAP’s ability to win the trust of Delhi’s voters once again. He credited the party’s emphasis on people-centric policies and governance as key factors that distinguish AAP from its political rivals.
