Union Defence Minister Rajnath Singh will present a ‘chadar’ at the revered Ajmer Sharif Dargah on Sunday, marking the 813th Urs of Sufi saint Khwaja Moinuddin Chishti. This gesture signifies respect for the saint's teachings of love and unity.
The chadar sent by the Defence Minister will be presented by Munawar Khan, former Vice President of the Dargah Committee. Singh is expected to depart from Jaipur at noon and arrive in Ajmer by the afternoon.
Following the offering, his message will be read aloud at the Buland Darwaza, a significant tradition of the Urs celebration.
Former Rajasthan Chief Minister Vasundhara Raje also marked the occasion by sending a chadar on Saturday. Prayers were offered for peace, harmony, and her long life.
The chadar, brought by BJP National Executive member Majeed Malik Commando, was presented at the shrine with messages reflecting her respect for Khwaja Moinuddin Chishti’s teachings.
Earlier, Union Minority and Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju offered a chadar on behalf of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
During his visit, Rijiju read a message from the Prime Minister, expressing respect for Khwaja Moinuddin Chishti’s values of humanity, love, and unity. The PM’s message highlighted the lasting impact of the saint’s teachings and his contribution to fostering harmony in society.
The Prime Minister’s message conveyed heartfelt greetings to devotees worldwide on this auspicious occasion. Modi praised Khwaja Moinuddin Chishti’s dedication to public welfare and described his teachings as a guiding light for future generations.
He emphasised the role of the Urs in promoting unity and mutual respect and expressed confidence that the occasion would inspire collective efforts toward nation-building.
