Raghav Chadha to receive charge sheets in Delhi Jal Board Office vandalism case.

The Rouse Avenue Court has directed that copies of the charge sheet and supplementary charge sheet be provided to Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) MP Raghav Chadha in connection with the Delhi Jal Board office vandalism case of 2020.

This decision comes in response to Chadha’s plea seeking court monitoring of the investigation.

The case was initially registered following a complaint filed by Chadha in 2020. He later approached the court, requesting oversight of the probe.

The court, presided over by Additional Chief Judicial Magistrate (ACJM) Paras Dalal, stated that Chadha should receive copies of the charge sheets as per his application. The next hearing in the case has been scheduled for 7 April.

The matter involves Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MP Yogender Chandolia, BJP leader Adesh Gupta, and several others as accused. The case was recently transferred to the Special MP MLA Court due to Chandolia’s status as a sitting Member of Parliament.

During the latest proceedings, Adesh Gupta appeared physically before the court, while Chandolia joined via video conferencing. Advocate Prashant Manchanda represented Chadha and sought an exemption for his client, citing Chadha’s engagement in a parliamentary session.

Delhi Police had previously filed a charge sheet under various sections of the Indian Penal Code, including those related to unlawful assembly, rioting, and causing damage to public property.

The charges were framed under Sections 188, 269, 147, 148, 149, 427, as well as Section 3 of the Prevention of Damage to Public Property Act and Section 3 of the Pandemic Act.

The court had taken cognisance of the charge sheet and supplementary charge sheet on 29 April 2023. The legal proceedings continue as the investigation moves forward under judicial supervision.
