Months after his YouTube talent hunt India's Got Latent led to a controversy over YouTuber-podcaster Ranveer Allahbadia's seemingly distasteful 'joke', comedian Samay Raina has dropped the news about his return to the public sphere with a stand-up comedy tour across India. Titled Samay Raina: Still Alive and Unfiltered, the India tour will kick off on August 15, strategically on Independence Day, and continue until October 5, for which he will be playing in key cities all over the nation.
This is Samay's first tour after the India's Got Latent controversy and ensuing legal issues against him. Making the announcement that tickets for the different legs of the tour are now available on the entertainment ticketing website BookMyShow, he announced that the tour will commence in Bengaluru on August 15. He will next move to Hyderabad, Mumbai, Kolkata, Chennai and Pune, before winding up the tour in New Delhi on October 5.

Samay, who gained popularity after being declared the co-winner of the reality show Comicstaan 2 (2019) on a stand-up comedy theme, is among the most controversial comics in modern-day India and has been in the news frequently during the last few years. As a matter of fact, even prior to the Ranveer Allahbadia incident, India's Got Latent had also been involved in numerous controversies and that had been so ever since its starting in June 2024.
Although the show had received huge amounts of criticism online in September 2024 for the use of derogatory language towards individuals with physical disabilities and speech impediments, India's Got Latent once more made headlines in November after a contestant made a condescending comment about Deepika Padukone's fight with depression. It was earlier this year that the show again ran into hot water as quite a few individuals, mostly belonging to the state, took offense at some derogatory remarks passed by one of the contestants regarding Arunachal Pradesh.
But it was the controversy surrounding Ranveer Allahbadia aka BeerBiceps that generated national discourse over India's Got Latent. In the course of conversation with a contestant, guest judge Ranveer posed a question: "Would you rather watch your parents having sex for the rest of your life or join in once to make it stop?" While the 'joke' was greeted with applause and cheers there, once the video became viral on social media, it caused a tide of hatred and criticism against Ranveer and Samay.
Samay had to take down all videos of the show from his YouTube page. He had a number of shows scheduled throughout India when the controversy started early this year. The shows were subsequently cancelled and tickets refunded to the consumers by BookMyShow.
