In view of the assembly elections in Bihar, Pashupati Paras' RLSP and Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren's Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) will be part of the grand alliance.
Leader of the Opposition in the Bihar Assembly, Tejashwi Prasad Yadav, who attended the birth anniversary celebrations of Padma Bhushan Ram Vilas Paswan in Patna, said that a decision on the inclusion of the two parties would be taken soon.
Yadav said that Pashupati Paras has expressed his desire to join the grand alliance on the issues of secularism and socialism. “We have put his proposal in front of all our allies in the grand alliance. We feel that we will make a decision on this soon,” he said.
Tejashwi stated that nothing could be better than the grand alliance receiving support from all those who want to defeat the NDA. He said that in this connection they had intended to visit Ranchi as well, but due to JMM chief Shibu Soren’s illness, it has not been possible.
Yadav mentioned that talks had taken place with Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren, who also wanted to join the grand alliance. “We will take a decision on this soon,” he said.
Notably, Paras has been keen to join the grand alliance since his separation from the NDA. The RLSP chief had also hinted that he would sooner or later become an ally of the grand alliance.
Meanwhile, the Hemant Soren-led JMM is also preparing to join the grand alliance. The JMM has indicated that if it does not join the alliance, it will contest more than a dozen seats in Bihar.
The RJD was part of the INDIA Alliance in the Jharkhand assembly elections in 2024. Hemant Soren had allocated six seats to the RJD, out of which the party won four. An RJD MLA, Sanjay Prasad Yadav, is also a minister in the Hemant Soren cabinet.
