Elon Musk-led Starlink will verify its Indian customers using Aadhaar authentication after being formally onboarded as a sub-authentication user agency by the Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI), an official statement said on Wednesday.
The development follows the government’s approval for Starlink to begin offering satellite-based broadband services across the country. According to UIDAI, the use of Aadhaar e-KYC will help Starlink complete customer onboarding in a secure and streamlined manner while fulfilling regulatory compliance requirements.
“The Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) has onboarded satellite-based internet provider Starlink Satellite Communication Pvt Ltd. Starlink will use Aadhaar Authentication for customer verification, which will make the entire process smooth, secure and very easy,” the statement said.
