Amid the Sandeshkhali ruckus, Trinamool Congress has shared an audio clip where Bharatiya Janata Party MLA Agnimitra Paul is talking about turning the on-going conflict of North 24 Parganas into a mass movement. On Thursday, TMC shared an audio (the authenticity of the clip is not verified by us) where Paul is directly hinting on churning the Sandeshkhali incident into a replica of Singur and Nandigram. The movements were spearheaded by the TMC supremo Mamata Banerjee, while in Opposition.
Both the mass movements of Singur and Nandigram led to the ouster of the Left government, which ruled the state for 34 years.
As per the audio clip shared by the TMC, in a telephonic conversation, an unknown caller asks whether or not they are planning to turn the Sandeshkhali incident into another Singur and Nandigram. To which, the BJP leader answered, “Our aim is to achieve the same and our party leadership is already working on trying to turn Sandeshkhali into another Singur and Nandigram.”
Paul, further, added: “We are speculating on how to take this issue forward. Moreover, our leaders will be visiting strife-torn Sandeshkhali in days to come and we are also planning on demanding a CBI investigation into the matter.”
With this expose, the TMC is trying to establish the fact that the BJP is trying to blow the Sandeshkhali incident out of proportion. And, thus, reduced the entire controversy into a PR campaign of the BJP, eyeing general elections.
On the other hand, in an attempt to respond to the clip, BJP leader Paul asserted the clip to be TMC’s gimmick to generate misinformation. She said: “TMC is trying to divert the attention from the Sandeshkhali incident, so they are generating misinformation.”
Additionally, she went on to target the Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee for maintaining silence over the Sandeshkhali issue and not fighting for the cause of those women who have been allegedly harassed by her party members.
Sandeshkhali has been burning for nearly a month now. An issue, which escalated after the officials of the Enforcement Directorate were targeted for conducting raids at TMC leader Sheikh Sahajahan’s premises for misappropriation of funds.
