At least two persons have been reported missing following a major landslide in Jammu and Kashmir’s Reasi District, a senior government official said on Tuesday.
Rescuers had intensified search operations in the affected area by deploying over a dozen earthmovers and excavators to clear the debris, the official added.
According to reports, the landslide occurred at Avtar Morh near the remote Chassana area along the under-construction Budhhal-Mahore-Gool road on Monday, said DC Reasi Vishesh Paul Mahajan.
He confirmed that two persons, including the driver of an earthmover, are reported to be missing and currently trapped under the debris.
Several senior officers have been rushed to the site, overseeing the large-scale rescue operation.
He added that over 12 earthmovers are engaged in removing the debris to rescue the people trapped under the debris.
This is a developing story, and more details to follow.
